About KidWell Network

Our Journey

Delaware Children’s Health Network (DCHN), Delaware’s first and only statewide pediatric clinically integrated network (CIN) and accountable care organization (ACO), rebranded to KidWell Network in 2023. Our dedicated team of health care providers works together to ensure children receive the best possible care while also making health care more accessible and affordable.

Founded in February 2019 as a partnership between Nemours Children’s and 9 privately owned pediatric primary care offices, DCHN started our journey to improve the quality and cost-effectiveness of pediatric care and to enhance the health and wellness experience of all patients served.

Our Commitment to Community

“Part of what has made the network successful has been the trust we’ve been able to build with the community.” David Cruz, Interim Executive Director and Director, Network Management.

Before we launched, we listened to the needs and hopes of clinicians and families in our community. We partnered with nine local pediatric clinics to understand what matters most when caring for children.

Today, KidWell Network serves over half of the children in Delaware and has extended its reach into southern Pennsylvania. Our team is dedicated to improving care through wellness and prevention, coordination of services and data-driven decision-making. The Network has more than 150 pediatricians and specialists in 30 practice locations.

This partnership has been a win-win for everyone involved, helping to lower health care costs and enhance the quality of care provided by all practices in our Network.

Our Proud Achievements in Improving Pediatric Care

At KidWell, we’ve been dedicated to improving pediatric health care from the very beginning. Our participating clinicians are committed to whole child health and being part of a well-developed organization with a shared vision of reforming health care. We use specific measures to track our success in enhancing care quality. Here are some of our proud achievements:

  • 2023: We celebrated our highest quality scores since our founding, reflecting our ongoing commitment to excellence in pediatric care.
  • 2022: We achieved over $5 million in shared savings and earned an additional $700,000 for achieving our quality performance goals.
  • 2021: We closed gaps in health care access across three out of four health equity measures, leading to better health outcomes for all communities we serve.
  • 2020: During the COVID-19 pandemic, we provided widespread testing and vaccinations, ensuring families had access to essential services.

Our Focus on Prevention

At KidWell, we believe that preventive care is vital to keeping children healthy. Through improved care coordination, we’ve implemented various strategies to ensure that all children have access to essential screenings and vaccinations, including:

  • Lead screenings to identify potential risks early through partnering with payers for point-of-care (POC) tests.
  • Assessing social determinants of health to address factors affecting every child’s well-being.
  • Expanding access to essential vaccines like the HPV and pneumococcal vaccines.

We are excited about the future as KidWell Network continues to grow and build partnerships with more community practices. Together, we can ensure that more children in Delaware Valley and beyond enjoy healthier lives and brighter futures. We hope you’ll consider partnering with KidWell Network.
